Murcia has a unique cuisine, with many dishes that are popular here but unknown in the rest of Spain. The most important things for you to try:
Marinera
Russian salad on a bread stick with an anchovy on top
Caballitos
Fried, breaded prawns. Squeeze a lemon on top before eating
Ensalada murciana
Tomato, egg, tuna, black olive, onion, olive oil
Zarangollo
Scrambled eggs with aubergine
Pastel de carne
A meat, chorizo and egg pie with a crunchy top. Popular since medieval times

Aubergine, courgette, green pepper, onion, tomato and garlic

Hearty bean and meat stew
Mojama y hueva con almendras
Slices of dried tuna (think of it like jamĆ³n from the sea) and slices of dried compressed fish eggs served with almonds. Make sure you have a beer with you. It's salty!

Deep-fried lemon leaf. Order as a dessert. Eat with ice cream and a coffee. Don't eat the leaf!
